At CPAC 2012, YJC became the first organization to ever host a Shabbat at CPAC. We had more than a hundred politically conservative Jews join us on Friday and Saturday for food and good company.  YJC is planning on hosting another Shabbat this year and we encourage you to spread the word about your family and friends to join us. We will have kosher food and special guests.  We simply ask you register ahead of time so we can properly plan accordingly. See you all in a few weeks! YJC just returned from our third student trip to Israel. We lead 16 politically conservative, Jewish students all across Israel, visiting important sites including Jerusalem, Mount of Olives, Hebron, Shilo, Sderot and the Golan Heights to name a few. Students learned more about the true history of Israel and zionism, trained in Israel advocacy, were briefed on the real security threats facing Israel and listened to conservative speakers on the future of America. Last weekend a core group of conservatives got together to learn, strategize and drum up the vote for their political candidate in the swing state of Pennsylvania.  But two characteristics of this group stick out – they are Jewish!  And they are young!

The twenty-somethings were holed up in a hotel outside Philadelphia, spending a traditional Shabbat – new for some of them – and talking about conservative politics – not new for any of them.  The attendees were all members of the appropriately-named Young Jewish Conservatives (YJC), who have come together to promote conservative causes in the United States, infused with Jewish values and in defense of Israel.

YJC Students Volunteer for the Republican Jewish Coalition's Jewish Outreach Effort

BALA CYNWYD,  PENNSYLVANIA - A week before the High Holidays, Republican Jews are trying to build on the Democratic National Convention's debacle of removing and then reinstating Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in their party platform. Hundreds of Republican Jewish Coalition volunteers from all over the country, from New York to California, descended over the weekend on three of the swing states - Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, trying to stir the conversation within the congregations and the kitchen tables of Jewish families.

Democrats booing from the convention floor were a great excuse for the grassroots operation, but the RJC's border chair Sheldon Adelson's generous support of the campaign sure didn't hurt either.

So far the polls do not show any significant shift of the majority of the Jewish community's voting preferences, but the organizers of the grassroots effort in Pennsylvania are convinced that if among about 300,000 Jews there are 10-20% hesitating, then their votes are worth a door-to-door fight. Over the weekend, volunteers plowed through the neighborhoods in the Philadelphia suburbs, targeting Jewish households based on the database assembled by a company specializing in micro-targeting, and handed out over 30,000 leaflets.

YJC Co-Hosted a Shabbat at the Faith and Freedom Coalition Conference with Jeff Ballabon, Chairman of Jewish Outreach for the Faith and Freedom Coalition

Shabbat Invitation
"The event was absolutely fabulous and very edifying, for me doubly so. On top of the regular scheduling, an Orthodox Jewish Sabbath service was conducted in one of the meeting rooms, with festive kosher meals catered by a company which trucked all the supplies up from Lawrence, New York. All this was organized by the head of Jewish Outreach for the Coalition, Bush-Cheney campaign veteran Jeff Ballabon, in conjunction with David Milstein and his dynamic organization, Young Jewish Conservatives."-- See the American Spectator piece here.

FRONT PAGE MAGAZINE: Seven Fascinating Things I Learned in Israel

Posted By Sammy Levine On July 31, 2012

I recently returned home from an unforgettable, two-week trip to Israel with the Young Jewish Conservatives. While there we spoke to members of the Israeli Knesset and Foreign Ministry, and traveled to parts of Israel—such as Hebron and Sderot—that most American groups never get to see because they are either politically incorrect or dangerous.

Here are 7 fascinating things I learned there that are worth sharing:

1.) I had the opportunity to visit the headquarters of “Save a Child’s Heart,” an Israeli medical charity that performs pediatric heart surgery for non-Jewish children in desperate need of help, free of charge. Since its inception in 1995, the organization has literally saved the lives of 3,000 non-Jewish children, 50% of whom came from Gaza, the West Bank and Iraq.

When I heard these statistics I could not believe it. I asked a worker there if this amazing organization helps the image of Israel in the Palestinian territories, as “Save a Child’s Heart” certainly assists many families who despise the Jewish State. She responded: “We hope so.”
